Terasen,
a wholly owned subsidiary, is the principal natural gas distribution utility in
British Columbia. Its service territory includes the populous lower mainland,
Vancouver Island and the interior of the province. The Company serves more than
918,000 customers, or 96 per cent of gas users in the province, and met a peak
day demand of 1,360 terajoules in 2007.
FortisAlberta,
a wholly owned subsidiary, is a distribution utility providing electricity in
central and southern Alberta. The Company serves more than 448,000 customers
and met a peak demand of 3,182 megawatts ("MW") in 2007.
FortisBC,
a wholly owned subsidiary, is an integrated electric utility operating in the
southern interior of British Columbia. The Company serves approximately 154,000
direct and indirect customers and met a peak demand of 683 MW in 2007.
Newfoundland Power,
a wholly owned subsidiary, operates an integrated generation, transmission and
distribution system in Newfoundland. The Company serves approximately 232,000
customers in the province and met a peak demand of 1,142 MW in 2007.
Other Canadian operations include the wholly owned subsidiaries
Maritime Electric and
FortisOntario which serve approximately 124,000
customers on Prince Edward Island and in southeastern Ontario. The Companies
met a combined peak demand of 452 MW in 2007.

Belize Electricity,
a 70.1 per cent owned subsidiary, is the main commercial generator, transmitter
and distributor of electricity in Belize, Central America. The Company serves
approximately 73,000 customers in Belize and met a peak demand of 70 MW in
2007.
Caribbean Utilities
, a 54 per cent owned subsidiary, generates, distributes, transmits and
supplies electricity on Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. The Company serves more
than 23,000 customers and met a record peak demand of 93 MW in August 2007.
Fortis Turks and Caicos
generates and transmits electricity to more than 8,700 customers on the islands
of Providenciales, Pine Cay, North Caicos, Middle Caicos and South Caicos and
met a combined peak demand of 28 MW in 2007.
Fortis Generation includes the
operations of non-regulated generating assets across Canada and in Belize and
upper New York State. The generating capacity of these assets is 195 MW, 190 MW
of which is hydroelectric generation.
Fortis Properties,
a wholly owned non-utility subsidiary, owns and operates hotels in 8 provinces
in Canada and commercial real estate primarily in Atlantic Canada. Its holdings
include 19 hotels with more than 3,500 rooms and approximately 2.8 million
square feet of commercial real estate.
