Letter from President and CEO, Barry Perry

Barry V. Perry, Fortis President and CEO

This is an unprecedented time for all of us. We want to assure you that we are focused on doing what is right to best support collective efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

At our corporate office in St. John’s, NL and our energy companies in Canada, United States and the Caribbean, we remain focused on two things: 1) the safety of our 9,000 employees, and 2) delivering reliable energy to our customers.

Similar to a storm response or other major event, our energy companies have business continuity plans in place that provide a framework to maintain operations for electric and natural gas service. We have established a pandemic response leaders' group and communicate regularly across our enterprise to share the latest information available and best practices.

I'm proud of our team and how we have come together to ensure the best response possible through our proactive and coordinated approach.

On March 17, 2020 we announced that our annual and special meeting on May 7, 2020 will be held online. The Corporation will forego an in-person meeting this year given the circumstances. Shareholders will receive information in the coming weeks on how to access the virtual meeting. We intend to return to an in-person annual meeting in future years.

I encourage everyone to take proper care of themselves and each other, and to act safely and responsibly to limit the spread of this virus.
