Bringing the Energy to the 2025 Canada Games

August 14, 2025

For the first time since 1977, the Canada Games have returned to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador — the proud home base of Fortis. We’re honoured to be a major sponsor, helping to Bring the Energy to this celebration of Canadian sport and spirit.

Over the next two weeks, the nation’s top young athletes will compete across St. John’s, including at the brand-new Fortis Canada Games Complex. This state-of-the-art facility features a 400-metre, eight-lane track outdoor track, FIFA quality soccer turf, and an indoor training area.

“We are incredibly proud to support the development of this facility,” says Gary Smith, Executive Vice President, Operations and Technology. “The Fortis Canada Games Complex symbolizes our deep commitment to our roots in Newfoundland and Labrador. It reflects perseverance, teamwork, and excellence — values that resonate deeply with our culture at Fortis.”

This complex isn’t just built for today’s competitions — it’s built for the future. It will stand as a cornerstone of athletic development, community engagement, and youth wellness for generations to come.

Every Big Moment Starts Small

As part of our Canada Games sponsorship, Fortis is also celebrating the journeys of Canada Games athletes through a video series inspired by one powerful truth:

Big moments happen because a whole lot of small ones happened first.
