Fortis Inc. has released its 2026 Climate Resiliency Report, outlining how Fortis companies are strengthening the reliability and resiliency of our energy delivery network in the context of a changing climate.
Building on earlier climate reporting, the 2026 report reflects a more advanced approach to climate resiliency. Informed by climate scenario analysis and location-specific hazard projections, the report provides deeper insight into the physical climate risks facing our assets and the adaptation and resiliency measures underway across the Fortis group.
Employee and public safety remain at the forefront of this work. Across the Fortis group, utilities are integrating climate risk insights into system planning, operational reviews, and asset management to improve reliability and ensure our networks can continue to operate safely and reliably under a range of future climate conditions.
Each Fortis utility completed assessments using location-specific projections, with support from external experts. This analysis helped identify the most significant climate hazards facing our operations: strong winds, extreme heat, wildfire risk, and flooding. (1)
The report highlights progress in mitigating these risks through a range of adaptation and resiliency measures, including wildfire mitigation planning, grid design, and enhancing vegetation management programs to further reduce wildfire risk and enhance system resiliency.
Through ongoing climate scenario analysis and system reviews, Fortis remains focused on preparing for a changing climate and ensuring our energy delivery networks operate safely and reliably today and remain resilient to potential future conditions.
(1) Also includes inland flooding, landslides, debris flow, extreme precipitation, flash flooding within burn scarred areas, storm surge and sea level rise.
