Going Further: 2026 Sustainability Report

Fortis reports key sustainability performance indicators annually and publishes a comprehensive sustainability report every two years, providing a clear view of progress across the organization.

 

This latest report marks Fortis' tenth year of sustainability reporting.

 

Recent results show how focused investment and the dedication of employees are advancing cleaner energy, strengthening reliability, and supporting customers and communities.


Highlights:

• ~38% reduction in Scope 1 GHG emissions since 2019

• Avoided emissions over the past five years were equivalent to removing more than 500,000 vehicles from the road for one year

• Record-low emissions intensity of energy delivered to customers 

• Continued commitment to a coal-free generation mix by 2032

• $14 million contributed to community causes

• Top quartile reliability performance relative to our industry peers

• Strongest safety performance in our history 

• $320 million invested in energy efficiency programs – saving enough energy to power 65,000 homes for one year

• $40 million invested in employee development
